Zero Waste – Hazardous Material Recycling
Hazardous Materials Recycling is an integral part of our Zero Waste program for Manufacturers. Recycling hazardous waste can be a hassle due to strict federal, state and local regulations, storage rules and transportation requirements. It can also be very time consuming to find a buyer or processor for these unique materials.
ESE Solutions understands the complexity dealing with hazardous materials and manages all aspects of the process for you. We:
- Research applicable government regulations and exemptions. If permits are required, we work with the respective government agency to fill out the permit correctly so that all it requires is your signature.
- Identify a buyer or processor that is reputable, permitted to handle your materials and can do so for less than you are currently paying to have them disposed of.
- Contract with licensed transportation providers and procure required containers and signage
- Consolidate reporting for internal use, complete regulatory reporting requirements and file permit extensions.
Energy Management – Green & Lean
ESE Solutions has developed our Green & Lean service offering by following the same processes and tools used in Lean Manufacturing. Instead of using Lean to identify process wastes, we use it to bring environmental wastes, energy in particular, to the surface.
After establishing a current state Green Value Stream Map (GVSM), we work with you to quantify excess energy usage in your operation. These inefficiencies can occur in processes, heating/cooling, lighting and equipment. We quantify the dollar value of addressing the issues and then work with your team to develop a future state GVSM where we’ll outline which issues will be addressed with any process changes.
From there, we manage the implementation of the future state GVSM by leveraging applicable government subsidies, contracting with all required vendors, developing signage and training employees. We then track the results and savings of the new process which is the basis for our compensation.

Do Your Products Pass the Test?
Walmart is developing a sustainable product index that will “translate the product information into a simple rating for consumers about the sustainability of products.” The US Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Program (EPP) encourages federal agencies to purchase products that have been certified by various programs as “green”. This trend of making the environmental impact of a product a primary buying consideration is gaining momentum among retailers and B2B buyers of products.
“Green” certification can have the potential to open up your products to new markets or make them more desirable to retail consumers. ESE Solutions can help you capitalize on this growing trend. We determine whether or not an existing product is eligible for certification by walking it through the process. If your product falls short, we can identify the changes that are required and develop an action plan to achieve certification.
Sustainability Strategy – ISO 14001 Implementation
ESE Solutions can assist you in the development of an Environmental Management System (EMS) that is consistent with the ISO 14001 Standard, achieves EMS Registration, improves your overall environmental performance and can help you gain favor with government and other institutional buyers.
We follow the process phases of Environmental Policy, Planning, Implementation and Operation, Checking and Corrective Action, and Management Review as outlined by ISO to help you gain certification. We start by learning your existing environmental programs and operations, then work to modify them as required to comply with the standards. We will work with your team to develop and implement action plans to fill in the identified gaps and manage the process required to gain certification from an authorized 3rd party.
